Any Jets fans that were hoping to see their potential future quarterback in full action on Friday will have to wait.
Zach Wilson was present for BYU’s Pro Day on Friday, but said he would not be participating in the 40-yard dash or any other drills aside from throwing due to a tweaked hamstring.
Jets general manager Joe Douglas, offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur and head coach Robert Saleh were all present for the event, but weren’t able to see Wilson’s speed, just his arm and measurables.
Wilson came in at 6-foot-2, 214 pounds and a 9.5-inch hand measurement.
The Jets have the second overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft and will likely watch Wilson, highly regarded as the second-best quarterback in this year’s class behind Trevor Lawrence, very closely on Friday. New York hasn’t confirmed whether or not it will move on from Sam Darnold, but if they decide to do so, Wilson will likely be the team’s quarterback of the future barring a blockbuster trade for Deshaun Watson or Russell Wilson.
