Running Back Kalen Ballage Fails Physical With Jets

It appears the Jets will not be getting more running back depth in the form of Kalen Ballage, at least not yet.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Ballage failed his physical with the Jets due to a hamstring injury, reverting him back to the Miami Dolphins.

Per Rapoport, the Dolphins will likely release Ballage, who could still sign with the Jets once healthy.

The Jets had traded for Ballage on Thursday for a condidational seventh-round pick in the 2021 draft.

Ballage, 24, played under head coach Adam Gase in Miami, who drafted Ballage in 2018. Gase also brought in former Dolphin Frank Gore who played alongside Ballage.

The Jets' running back situation has garnered some attention of late after Le'Veon Bell expressed frustration on Twitter that he was not getting enough reps. Gase cited Bell had a tight hamstring, but Bell said that was not true.

Ballage averaged 5.3 yards per carry his rookie season but that mark fell to 1.8 yards per carry last season, rushing for 135 yards on 74 carries.
