After listening to Aaron Rodgers at his introductory press conference on Wednesday, Sal Licata has seen all he needed to see from the future Hall of Famer.
This is a home run for the Jets, regardless of what it took to get him.
“Aaron Rodgers is a sports God!” Sal said. “I have been somebody who has always been a supporter of Aaron Rodgers, from day one. This is going back to the Packers days…Rodgers is so good, the knock on him is that he’s only won one Super Bowl. Think about that, and think about that compared to the New York Jets.
No matter the result, Aaron Rodgers to the Jets is a great trade. It is comical to hear people talk about how they gave up too much…the Jets. They’ve never had a good quarterback in recent memory. People are worried about them giving up potentially a No. 1 and a No. 2? Come on.”
It has largely been a dark history for Gang Green, as the team holds the longest playoff drought of any team across the four major sports. So the bar isn’t set particularly high, but Sal is ready to call Wednesday’s introduction the greatest day in franchise history outside of the lone time that the team stood on top of the football world.
“This is, no joke, outside of Super Bowl III, this is the greatest day in the history of the New York Jets,” Sal said.
