Sal hasn’t been sold on the Jets this season, not nearly as much as BT is, and he is declaring that, come Sunday against the Giants, Gang Green fans will experience a painfully familiar form of disappointment.
“Everything is set up for the Jets,” Sal said. “The division, all of a sudden wide open, with losses by the Bills and Dolphins. They’re coming off a bye after the high of beating the Eagles…the Jets have everything right there in front of them to take that next step and be legitimate this year. I don’t think they have it in them.
“To me, this weekend is gonna show the same old Jets.”
BT wanted to know what he meant by “same old Jets,” and Sal replied that it means Gang Green will have a chance to show that the franchise has turned a corner, and will be a team to be taken seriously moving forward, but they will fumble that chance and slide back into irrelevancy.
“I don’t even like the term ‘Same old Jets’…but there are no excuses,” Sal said. “Go out there and beat a team you’re supposed to beat, after a bye week…there are no excuses. What could possibly go wrong? With the Jets, typically, things go wrong. They need to cement themselves this season and this Sunday, and I don’t think they have it in them.”
