Sal: Jets continue to be 'all hype and zero substance'

Sal Licata sounded off on the Jets after Sunday’s loss to the lowly Broncos, and says that the team once again looks like it is set to vastly underperform despite high expectations.

“Another year, and it’s the same old crap,” Sal said. “The Jets remain all hype and zero substance.

“I just couldn’t buy into this team. Something felt off. Maybe it’s because I’ve never seen them have success.”

Sal believes the main culprit is the “foundation,” particularly the head coach in Robert Saleh. But he believes Saleh is far from the only problem, and the roster also continues to underperform. In fact, even with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback, Sal says New York looked like it did back when Zach Wilson was under center.

“The Jets as a whole, whether it’s Joe Douglas or the owner, Saleh, the rest of the guys who maybe have talent on paper, they haven’t earned anything,” Sal said. “Yet we were so quick to say, ‘Well, look at the talent on paper. They’re gonna be an 11-12 win team.’ Based off of what? They haven’t earned squat!

“Are we sure it’s just the head coach?”

Sal says the Jets are showing “ineptitude” at the highest level, but he doesn’t see changes coming, as he doesn’t believe the front office will make a head coaching change during the season. So, if Gang Green is to turn things around, Sal believes it will have to be with Saleh on the sideline.
