D.J. Reed told SNY on Sunday, “No matter who we play, we're gonna shut 'em out. It's just our mindset, we feel like we're the best,” after the Jets defense swallowed up the Texans.
Between that and Jets social media trolling Houston after the win, Sal was livid about Gang Green seemingly forgetting how the rest of the season has gone before finally getting back in the win column.
“You would think that the 5-8 Jets would show some humility, yet they think that they’re 8-5,” Sal said. “Reed’s the one who ran his mouth about the ’85 Bears…I know the defense has been good, but the Falcons just came into your building and beat you last week. The Dolphins embarrassed you the week before. The Bills beat your face in.
“You guys are 5-8, and you talk like you’re the ’85 Bears. I got news for you. While the defense is good…it’s not the ’85 Bears.”
Sure, the online trolling is just fun and games, but Sal didn’t like Reed continuing on like he did before the season and hyping up his defense, only now doing it when the season is all but lost.
“I’ve seen bad offenses with great defenses have success. Look at the 2000 Ravens,” Sal said. “This Jets team ain’t that. They’re good, but they’re not as good as they think they are.
“You’re 5-8, you’re the laughingstock of the league! Shut your mouth! You won a game, shut up and move on. My God.”
