Sal says it's time to remove 'Same Old Jets' moniker: 'Things are different now'

Sal was in attendance for the Jets’ 24-3 beatdown of the rival Patriots on Thursday night, and he couldn’t believe what he was seeing on the field as New York piled on the first downs and dominated time of possession.

For Sal, it was confirmation that Gang Green is no longer an NFL laughingstock.

“You can remove the SOJ moniker,” Sal said. “They are no longer the same old Jets. Things are different now.

“We saw some dominance from the defense, and we saw the offense do things that we haven’t seen the Jets offense do…in comparison to what we’ve seen from this organization in years past, it is night and day. It is refreshing.”

Sal has been wanting to see competitive football in New York for years, especially with how much the Giants have struggled since their last Super Bowl victory. Now, it seems like the Jets will be able to offer that, especially with Aaron Rodgers balling out and looking like his peak self, even at 40 years old.

What made Sal even happier was to hear Rodgers’ comments after the game, which further solidified that the days of the same old Jets are in the rearview.

“It gives me goosebumps! The expectation is to win, and the next step is expecting dominance,” Sal said. “You appreciate even more as a Jets fan because you’ve watched slop for years, and now you’re watching one of the all-time greats.

“Through three games so far…Rodgers looks perhaps even better than many of us thought.”
