BT is back on the Zach Wilson hype train, and Sal has long been off of it, especially this season as the former No. 2 overall pick continues to struggle and fail to move the offense.
Wilson’s struggles have led many fans to call for his benching, and Sal says if it comes to that, it would mean the end of his tenure in New York.
“Once they do make the decision to bench Zach or pull Zach from a game…that’s it,” Sal said. “There’s no coming back from benching Zach Wilson, to having him be the starter again at any point for the Jets organization.
“His career as a Jet will be over.”
Sal would have brought in a new quarterback to back up Aaron Rodgers before the season started, but with Rodgers hurt, if Wilson becomes a backup to Tim Boyle or Trevor Siemian, Sal says Wilson won’t be seen with Gang Green again.
“They have to be aware in that building,” Sal said. “Once that decision is made…it’s over for Zach Wilson and the Jets.”
