A former Jets legend in Nick Mangold made his Twitter pitch to Aaron Rodgers on Monday, and now, a current Gang Green star is throwing his hat (or cheese hat) into the ring.
Rookie sensation Sauce Gardner saw reports that the Jets were flying to meet with Rodgers on Tuesday, and tweeted a message to the future Hall of Famer.
“Aye Aaron Rodgers I promise if you become a Jet, I won’t pick you off in practice and I’ll burn the cheesehead,” Gardner tweeted, a nod to the Defensive Rookie of the Year donning a cheesehead after Gang Green beat Rodgers’ Packers at Lambeau Field last season, and Jets fans in attendance put the cheesehead on Gardner’s head.
Rodgers and the Jets reportedly spoke on Monday, and were granted permission to do so by the Packers. As of Tuesday afternoon, Gang Green’s flight was en route to meet with Rodgers, the team’s top quarterback target, especially after Derek Carr signed with the Saints on Monday.
