Tiki: Aaron Rodgers to Jets is a 'pipe dream'

Aaron Rodgers has reportedly complete his darkness retreat, and up next could be a decision on his NFL future.

That may increase the anticipation of Jets fans who are hoping the future Hall of Famer ends up in New York, but Tiki Barber says those fans are only setting themselves up for a letdown.

“I think he's going to stay in Green Bay,” Tiki said. “I think it's a pipe dream for all these other teams except for maybe Las Vegas.

“How long are you waiting for him before you come to the side that I've been espousing for three weeks now, which is Aaron Rodgers is not worth waiting for when you have other options like Derek Carr, sitting right on the table?”

Tiki wonders if any Jets fans have grown tired of dreaming of Rodgers leading Gang Green’s young core into Super Bowl contention, given how much of a long shot it might be that he ends up in New York. But BT is not among those with Rodgers fatigue.

“Amazingly, I'm not getting tired…I understand why there's a little fatigue for some, I'm not tired at all,” BT said. “You know why? Because I'm still not worried, because nothing's changed. Here's the bottom line: you aim for Rodgers, you pivot to Carr, you settle for [Ryan] Tannehill or Jimmy [Garoppolo]. What is so hard to understand?”

Tiki warns that if the Jets are willing to wait on Rodgers, those backup options that BT listed may no longer be available once Rodgers inevitably returns to Green Bay or joins the Raiders.

“If you're Derek Carr, you want this solved as soon as possible before all the other options, all the other teams go fulfill their options and they're no longer interested in you and it drives your price down,” Tiki said. “So I think Derek Carr, it’s in his best interest to get this off sooner rather than later…so when Derek Carr is gone and Jimmy Garoppolo is not a great option or he's gone as well, you're going to be stuck waiting for a month for Aaron Rodgers. That just doesn't make sense to me.”
