The Jets-Bills season finale got chippy quite early, and a near-brawl in the second quarter actually somewhat benefitted the Jets, oddly.

On a Buffalo punt with just under six minutes to go in the second quarter, Jets fullback Nick Bawden and Bills long-snapper Reid Ferguson got into a shoving match well away from the actual punt, ending up getting offsetting personal foul penalties:
Jets head coach Robert Saleh was upset because the Jets would’ve had the ball just inside the 50 thanks to Buffalo punter Matt Haack shanking a punt. However, on the replay of the down, Haack shanked another one, and the Jets took over at Buffalo’s 45, giving them the chance at their first play in Bills territory.
Sadly, that incident was about as much fight as the Jets had showed to that point in the half, as they had 24 total yards on 15 plays over 8:15 of possession prior to the punt play.
Luckily, it got better, as they went for it on 4th-and-5 from the Bills’ 40, and Zach Wilson ended up hitting Keelan Cole for a 40-yard touchdown pass.
