The New York Giants gave up a big man TD on Sunday, although that one was pretty straightforward: Lane Johnson was wide open for a five-yard layup in a game that was already getting out of hand.

So, then, the other New York team scoring one is already probably a better story, but Conor McDermott’s TD grab on Sunday was made even better by the fact that it came with the Jets facing a fourth-and-goal, clinging to a one-point lead in the fourth, on a play where Zach Wilson had to do a bit of improvising:

Yes, you saw that right: McDermott, nominally an offensive tackle, played receiver on this one, showing off the hops to catch one in the end zone after Zach Wilson scrambled to his right on a fourth-and-goal from the one yard line.

Even more impressive: McDermott was lined up on the left side of the offensive line – uncovered next to the actual right tackle – and came all the way across the formation to secure the grab.

It was the second big man TD In the game, technically, as Jaguars offensive lineman Will Richardson Jr. fell on a fumble in the end zone to get credit for the Jaguars’ first touchdown.

Oh, and don’t forget about this little nugget from Athletic National NFL Insider Jeff Howe, who used to cover the Patriots:
