Willie Colon: Is is fair to ask if Jets are cursed franchise?
Willie Colon says there is too much evidence to suggest that the Jets may be a cursed franchise, which obviously wouldn’t bode well for a team set to begin their most hyped season in recent memory.
Colon says you don’t have to look back that far to see the signs, especially Aaron Rodgers going down with a season-ending Achilles injury just four snaps into his Jets debut, after being seen as the franchise savior following draft busts in the form of Sam Darnold and Zach Wilson.
“Whoever has the voodoo doll on the Jets, please let up,” Willie said. “There’s no reason to keep stabbing at it. It’s dead.”
“The Vinny [Testaverde]/Aaron Rodgers comparison is crazy.”
Jerry pointed to the likes of the Red Sox and Cubs, tortured franchises who many believed to be cursed before winning titles over the last decade, but Willie says it still seems like the Jets are cursed, and that belief will remain until it is finally broken.
“When Brett Favre was here, they were 8-3...and he blows his triceps and tells nobody,” Willie said. “There are these things that happen to the Jets. It doesn’t happen to any other franchise in the NFL. It just seems like the dark cloud is always over their heads.”
