Willie Colon breaks down Haason Reddick obstacles if he ends Jets holdout

Haason Reddick’s holdout continues, as the Jets pass rusher didn’t play a single preseason snap, and hasn’t been with his new team at all yet with just weeks to go until the regular season begins.

How much of a problem will that be for Reddick if and when he does end his holdout? Jerry Recco asked former Jet Willie Colon the challenges of shaking off that kind of rust.

“He looked phenomenal. He looked like he was ready to go right now,” Colon said of the recent workout video Reddick posted on social media. “The problem is, there’s nobody hitting him. He’s just stepping over cones and he’s hitting the bag.

“It would take me at least a week or two to kind of get acclimated, just at least from the speed and getting my bearings, and hitting the lights on as I go. I could imagine for him it’s around the same.”

In addition to the physical rust that would need to be shed, Colon pointed to the added challenge of Reddick being with a new team and a new scheme, which could add to the amount of time he needs to get back to full throttle.

“He’s never played with this defensive line…this may be a system that he’s familiar of from a schematics standpoint, but he will be asked to do different things,” Colin said. “And getting a rapport with the guys he’s gonna play with. He’s never played with Quinnen Williams. He’s never taken calls from C.J. Mosley.

“It would behoove him if he could get in the building ASAP.”
