If the Zach Wilson era is over once again in New York, this time, it may be due to injury.
Wilson left the Jets’ game in Miami with about a minute left in the first half, heading to the locker room while Trevor Siemian took over with the Jets down 24-0 and 1:03 left in the half.
Initial reports just before halftime were that Wilson left early to get hydration, but after Siemien also worked the Jets’ initial drive in the third quarter, the CBS broadcast reported that Wilson was ruled out with a head injury, but was NOT in concussion protocol -
The Jets went on to lose 30-0, and wins by Houston, Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Indianapolis this weekend officially eliminated them from playoff contention come about 4:30 p.m.
Gang Green is now officially playing out the string, and they have until Wednesday to activate Aaron Rodgers from injured reserve or lose him for the year.
The Jets' final three games are against the Commanders, Browns, and Patriots - the former of which could be eliminated come Monday and the latter of which already is - so it remains to be seen if Rodgers will come back, or even play right away if he does.
Siemien was 14-of-26 for 110 yards and threw two interceptions in relief of Wilson, and the team also has Brett Rypien currently on the roster.
