Boomer came away encouraged by the performance of the Jets and Zach Wilson, and believes the improved play was a direct correlation of having Aaron Rodgers back in the building.
“I think having Aaron Rodgers there, believe it or not, I feel like it really was something that had a positive effect on the entire team,” Boomer said. “Guys on the sideline talking to each other, pumping each other up. It seemed like everyone was getting in Zach’s grill saying, ‘You got this.’”
Rodgers had called his team out for pointing fingers after last week’s loss to the Patriots, and on Saturday, he was able to talk to them in person, urging them to stick together. He then watched Sunday’s game from a box above the field at MetLife Stadium, and Boomer says his presence coupled with the team’s best offensive performance of the season was no coincidence.
“I do think there was a profound effect that Aaron had by being there this weekend,” Boomer said. “I don’t care what anyone says. If he stands there in front of the team and says ‘Hey, let’s stop pointing fingers and let’s start acting like a team,’ I think that’s what you saw last night. From that standpoint, that is something that is encouraging moving forward.”
