Jihad Ward explains 'cheap s–t' that led to viral confrontation with Aaron Rodgers

Giants linebacker Jihad Ward, part of the most viral moment of Hard Knocks this week, told SNY's Connor Hughes that the HBO show didn't reveal the whole story.

Ward got into a back and forth with Aaron Rodgers after Rodgers took exception to Ward shoving him long after he threw a pass, which led to Rodgers responding, "I don't know who you are," a quote that quickly made rounds on social media after it aired on Tuesday night. Rodgers completed a touchdown pass soon after, sought out Ward, and warned him not to "poke the bear."

As Ward told Hughes, he and the Giants took exception to Randall Cobb, Rodgers' longtime teammate and wide receiver, threw down a blindside block earlier in the game, one that was whistled for a penalty and shown on Hard Knocks. Ward noted how players on the Jets side were laughing about the incident, specifically Rodgers, who was seen on the show joking with teammates after the penalty, but mainly because of the thought of Cobb being fined and clearly not thinking before committing the infraction.
"There's a reason why I acted like that from the first place,'' Ward said.
"There's a reason why I shoved him like I did. The reason why is because I don't let any of my mother-f—-king teammates get knocked over. And Randall, what's his name? Randall Cobb? He knew what he did.

"That was some cheap s–t. If I see anything on the field, I've got to do what I've gotta do."

The Jets and Giants will face off again on Oct. 29.
