BKFC 20 kicks off on Friday, the latest installment of a fast-growing league that has upped the excitement in combat sports.
Johnny Bedford is one of the fighters that will be stepping into the ring on Friday, and has embraced the rising popularity of the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship as he looks to reclaim the lightweight title.
“It’s new,” Bedford told Pete Hoffman on the latest episode of The Fight Fan. “It’s exciting, and it’s a platform that allows both guys to fight on an even playing field of sorts…it’s awesome. It’s the best, fastest-growing sport in the world, because it’s the best sport in the world.”
Bedford has a background in both UFC and boxing, and believes BKFC combines the best of both worlds and creates a spectacle that is immune to dullness.
“I’m an MMA guy, and I train with boxers all the time,” Bedford said. “I love them both. I appreciate what it is, but there can be boring fights. There’s no such thing as a boring fight in Bare Knuckle.”
UFC flyweight Brandon Royval also joined the show to talk about his upcoming fight with Alexandre Pantoia, and that interview, along with the full episode of The Fight Fan, can be heard below!
