The Juan Soto sweepstakes could be on the cusp of reaching a fever pitch.
According to Randy Miller of NJ.com, the free agent superstar has received contract offers from five teams, including the Yankees and Mets, has one of the highest-profile free agencies in the history of the sport could be entering the home stretch.
Per Miller, the Blue Jays, Red Sox, and Dodgers are the other teams to have submitted offers to Soto. MLB Network's Jon Morosi corroborated the report shortly after.
The numbers are not yet known in terms of dollars and years, and they are not believed to be final offers, as Soto's camp could give teams time to outbid each other and up their offers before a final decision is made.
Morosi opined that the Red Sox could be "far behind" the Yankees and Mets in terms of chances to get Soto, but the Yanks, who are fighting to keep Soto, are in battle with two divisional rivals as well as a crosstown foe in the Mets, armed with Steve Cohen's deep pockets.
With the Winter Meetings still weeks away, initial offers coming in before Thanksgiving could potentially mean a resolution is made before those Winter Meetings in December, or in the very early stages of the meetings when they commence on Dec. 9.
