Anthony Rendon drew plenty of criticism from baseball fans this week after telling reporters that baseball is not his top priority, as he puts more emphasis on his family and faith.
Rendon has already not been in the highest of regard among fans, as his exorbitant contract with the Angels has been a massive disappointment, and he was caught on video slapping a fan who was trash talking him following a game against the A’s.
But Keith says those ripping Rendon for his latest comments likely are in no place to criticize.
“The guy might love baseball. But he might love his family and God more,” Keith said. “He might not feel like he has to put his body on the line for the Angels, because that money is coming in regardless.
“They are blessed, they are fortunate, but not damn one of them didn’t put in the work to get there. So who are you to judge? Who are you? What do you do?”
Keith says MLB players had to pore in endless hours of work to get to where they are, so to question their work ethic or drive, even towards players who openly admit that the game isn’t everything to them, is ignorant.
“Everybody is so critical of these guys. What do you do?” Keith said. “What have you done in your life to say ‘Anthony Rendon sucks, he hates baseball’? Yeah, he’s rich. His wife is rich. His kids are rich. What are you doing?”
