The Yankees got back in the win column on Tuesday, and gained a game in the Wild Card race heading into Wednesday’s series finale against the lowly White Sox.

Still, rather than focus on what it could mean for the Bombers’ fading playoff hopes, Keith couldn’t help but watch Tuesday’s game with a scope on 2024.

“I’m already projecting to next year with Gerrit Cole, Clarke Schmidt, Nestor Cortes,” Keith said. “And I don’t know about Carlos Rodon.”

Keith’s thoughts went to how the ever-improving Clarke Schmidt would factor into a 2024 rotation that likely won’t have Luis Severino or Domingo German, and not how Schmidt could help propel the Yanks back into the playoff hunt this season. Between that revelation and the premiere of Hard Knocks on Tuesday, Keith is ready to turn the page to football.

“It’s the end of the baseball season here in New York. We’re ready for the NFL,” Keith said. “It’s time to start mixing in the football conversation, because the baseball seasons, I hate to say it, it’s cooked. It’s over. They don’t hold any weight. It’s not worth your time or my time.”
