Keith: Mets 'definitely' playing better brand of baseball than Yankees entering Subway Series
As the Mets and Yankees get set to meet in the Subway Series on Tuesday night, both teams seem to be heading in opposite directions.
The Yanks have lost six of eight and three straight series, while the Mets have the best record in baseball since the start of June. Right now, it's hard to deny that the team in Queens is playing better baseball at this moment.
"They definitely are," Keith said. "When you watch them, yes.
"On the main stage, no other game on, Nimmo, Lindor, Vientos, Severino…good."
Still, there are questions lingering about the Mets, as Keith wonders how many people see series wins over teams like the Padres, Rangers, and Cubs as overly impressive, and now, with Edwin Diaz and Starling Marte likely out for the next two games, the Mets will be shorthanded like the Yankees, who just placed Giancarlo Stanton on the IL.
So, Keith wouldn't be surprised to see a "super mid-off," or a typical underwhelming Subway Series split.
"Who have the Mets beat in this recent two weeks that make you think they're gonna dominate the Yankees or even take two from the Yankees?" Keith said. "I'm on the record saying I think it's gonna be a split. I think it's gonna be a split in Queens and a split in the Bronx."
