Taking a realistic look at the expectations for New York baseball in 2024, Keith believes the Yankees and Mets have begun trending in opposite directions.
"I think the Mets and Yankees are right next to each other," Keith said. "I think the Mets fans have come up a little bit on their expectations…and I think the Yankee fan has come down on their expectations, because you don't have the reigning AL Cy Young winner, you don't have DJ LeMahieu, who signed a six-year contract, and now after the Judge scare, you realize he might be compromised."
Keith believes Mets fans are feeling better about their squad after the addition of J.D. Martinez, while injuries have Yankee fans reminded that it almost is never easy when it comes to staying healthy, and even with the addition of Juan Soto, there seems to be cracks forming in the roster already.
"Again, this roster is flawed. This team isn't built correctly again," Keith said. "We can all spot the holes in the team that you've built together…you have to hope that a team that leads the league in IL stints stays healthy. I can't do it."
