As if the Knicks didn’t already suffer threw a tough night in losing to the NBA-worst Timberwolves on Wednesday night, they also had to deal with some serious shade thrown their way, specifically RJ Barrett.

After New York’s frustrating 102-101 loss after holding an 18-point lead, Minnesota rookie Anthony Edwards, a big part of the Timberwolves’ comeback effort, celebrated after the game not just for the improbable victory, but for Barrett being the one to attempt what would have been a game-winning shot for the Knicks.

“We told Jaden [McDaniels] try not let Randle catch the ball, we’re going to make someone else beat us,” Edwards said on the Timberwolves television broadcast after the game. “Gladly RJ caught it and if he made the shot, we would’ve lived with it. Because that’s who we wanted taking the shot.
We didn’t want anyone else taking it.”

Barrett, who missed a fadeaway jumper with two seconds left shortly after Randle missed one of his own on the previous possession, responded to a tweet of the video with a laughing emoji, but it was Edwards and Minnesota with the last laugh, stealing a game the Knicks had to have as they continue their push for playoff positioning.

Barrett had a strong game otherwise, finishing with 23 points while hitting three of his four 3-point attempts, while Edwards, a former No. 1 overall pick, finished with 24 points.
