Bobby Portis, talking with Sports Illustrated’s Ashley Nicole Moss, said if he could go back and play with one of his former teams, it would be the Knicks.

“My first go around with them wasn’t good,” Portis said. “Our team was a little different...we had like, five power forwards.”

Portis said on Twitter later that he was just trolling, but went on to call his season in New York “the most miserable year of my career.”

“Thankful for it though,” Portis said. “Made me come back stronger.”

Portis signed with the Knicks prior to the 2019-20 season, coming off the bench and shooting 45 percent from the field while averaging 10.1 points per game. New York finished a lowly 21-45 that season, and by the time next season started, Tom Thibodeau had replaced head coach David Fizdale, and Portis was off to Milwaukee.

Things certainly worked out for Portis, as his field goal percentage climbed to 52.3 percent in the same amount of games, and shot 47.1 percent from downtown in an eventual NBA title with the Bucks.
