As the Lakers continue their search for a new head coach, Boomer and Gio wondered if LeBron James would want out of Los Angeles to try and make one last title push before his legendary career comes to an end.
James has a $51.4 million player option for this season, so he could decline it and sign elsewhere, and Gio wouldn’t mind that elsewhere being with the Knicks.
“I don’t think I’d hate it,” Gio said. “I gotta be honest with you.”
Boomer was much more against seeing the aging star join the Knicks nearly 15 years after New York coveted him in his prime.
“I don’t want to see it,” Boomer said. “He’s been on the fringes. He’s been able to go wherever he’s wanted to go, and he’s basically run the NBA…and I like the team that we have and the guys we have. I’d like to see maybe a tweak here or a tweak there, but when we were all healthy, we were on a run.”
