Boomer can't believe Jalen Brunson is an All-Star starter snub: 'It's a popularity contest'

Jalen Brunson dropped at least 30 points for the seventh time in eight games on Monday night, as he is now averaging 26.7 points per game while shooting 42.4 percent from downtown.

It’s those kind of numbers, and the way he impacts a game, that has Boomer in disbelief that Brunson won’t be starting in the 2024 NBA All-Star Game.

“Watching Jalen Brunson night in and night out, and all the little things he does for this team, and how impactful he is, controlling the team, scoring, doing everything. For him not to be a starter on the All-Star team, it’s a snub,” Boomer said. “You gotta look at it as a snub, and I don’t like snubs.

“One hundred percent snub spot. How is he not a starter?”

Boomer believes Damian Lillard getting the nod over Brunson, thanks to the fan vote, shows that the fans leaned on past accomplishments, and not just what the players have done this season.

“It’s reputation,” Boomer said. “It’s a popularity contest from the fanbase.”
