The Knicks are rolling into the All-Star break, winners of three in a row and in sole possession of the crucial sixth seed in the Eastern Conference after a blowout win over the Hawks on Wednesday night.
Wednesday's win was another big night for Jalen Brunson, who scored 28 points and shot 10-for-19 from the field, continuing a torrid February in which he is averaging 31.9 points per game and shooting 60 percent from the floor in seven games.
With his recent play and the Knicks' recent performance as a whole, Boomer couldn't be much higher on Brunson than he is right now.
"You want to know who a cog is? Jalen Brunson is a cog," Boomer said. "Jalen Brunson is the freakin' man. Those are type of cogs you need. That guy has proven to be the exact thing that Julius Randle and this team has been missing."
Brunson and the Knicks have Boomer dreaming of the team finally winning a playoff series, which they haven't done in a decade, and if Brunson is playing like he has been since signing with the Knicks, he doesn't see why it can't happen.
"They are, out of the entire league, I would say that they're very close to being a top 10 team," Boomer said.
