Boomer thinks Jalen Brunson is making a huge difference for Julius Randle

The roller coaster that is the Julius Randle experience has gotten a lot of love and hate from Boomer & Gio (and others) over the last couple years – but in watching the Knicks' 2-1 start so far, Booms is seeing a completely different big man.

"Julius Randle is already different these first three games – and the biggest difference is Jalen Brunson," Boomer said Tuesday.

As he explained it, Booms took some money from Wally Szczerbiak (probably on the golf course) on Monday, and in talking about the Knicks

"Wally said that Brunson hadn't had a turnover until last night, and they finally have a guy who is willing to take control of a game and get a team back in the game," Boomer said. "Last night, he stopped the comeback attempt by Orlando in the third quarter, where he scored seven straight points, and it's just nice to have a guy who feels confident having the ball in his hands and making all the right decisions."

Jerry chimed in with a mocking "Eastern Conference Champions" quote, which led Boomer to shoot back with a dig at Ben Simmons:

"One step at a time Jerry – at least our point guard's not fouling out every game!"

Randle is averaging 21.3 points per game, and many of his 64 total points have come off Brunson's 21 assists, so perhaps the point guard was all the big man needed to get back to All-Star form.
