Boomer: Josh Hart needs to 'go to Tarrytown and take 1,000 shots'

There were plenty of painful moments to relive after the Knicks' crushing collapse to Tyrese Maxey and the 76ers on Tuesday night, but for Boomer, the big one was the missed free throws by New York, specifically Josh Hart at the end of regulation to set up Maxey's game-tying three with less than 10 seconds to go.

"Please, Josh Hart. Go up to Tarrytown and take 1,000 shots," Boomer said. "Whatever has happened to his outside shot and free throws over the last two games is mind-numbing. It is frustrating.

"You miss your free throws, you let the other team stay in the game…what has happened to Josh Hart's shot? Can you explain that to me? He isn't close the last two games."

Hart missed the first of two free throws to put the Knicks ahead by three as the final seconds of the fourth quarter ticked down, and Maxey quickly stepped over half court and buried a 34-footer to send the game to overtime, and eventually send the series back to Philadelphia. The Knicks shot a miserable 66.7 percent from the free throw line, while Hart, a hero in games one and two with his suddenly efficient shooting, has regressed back to the mean with a 1-for-6 night from downtown in game five.

"I know why a lot of guys were missing free throws in the fourth quarter and overtime. These guys were exhausted," Boomer said. "They all laid it on the line, I'll tell you that."
