Boomer: Knicks' opening loss to Celtics was 'embarrassing, boring, and unwatchable'

There was a lot of Knicks hype all the way up until tip-off last night, and then…that.

The ‘Bockers dropped a 132-109 decision to Boston that was never as close as even that score indicated, and even worse than the performance? To Booms, the Knicks weren’t exciting bad.

“Last night was…it was an embarrassment, actually, and it was so boring,” Boomer said. “Like, let me just take three pointers, let me just halfway run down the court, take another three-pointer. It was ridiculous! Good for the Celtics, because they obviously shot really well, but they just kept getting offensive rebounds that were coming way out, and the Knicks were out of position a couple of times.”

There were a combined 91 three-point attempts last night, including SIXTY-ONE by the Celtics, who happened to make 29 of them. That’s impossible to stop (and easy to see why they won so handily), but considering the C’s missed their last THIRTEEN threes last night? Yikes.

“They were trying to set a record; at one point they were 29 of 48, and ended up tying the record,” Boomer complained. “It was such a boring game, with so many offensive rebounds that the Celtics got and just hoisted up another three. There was no grind, there was no intensity in this game; it was like a shooting exhibition that 19,000 people showed up to so they could raise their banner and get their rings. It was completely unwatchable.”

“I agree, and maybe it’s because we’ve been watching such intense New York sports now for a month, that seeing that, it just was dead,” Gio responded.

The good thing is it’s just one game, so plenty of time left to overcome what’s hopefully a blip in Game 1 of 82.

“I wanna wait; I gotta see 25 games, and hopefully everybody settles down, and they get guys assimilated to the team,” Boomer said. “Guys had off nights, and maybe the Knicks come back and win their home opener against the Pacers. Maybe that will be a little bit more intense than last night's game was.”

“Well, if they weren't awake and ready for the season, then last night better have been a smelling salt for them, because that felt like they were going through the motions and having another preseason game,” Gio replied.
“Thibs after the game is like, ‘well, you know, mathematically we can't win that game because all the threes that they had.’ Well, I mean, you, you can play better defense!”
