Boomer rips Tom Thibodeau criticism after Knicks fall in game seven
Tom Thibodeau, despite leading the Knicks to their most successful season in 24 years, heard his share of criticism after the team's game seven loss on Sunday afternoon, where injuries once again played a role for a New York squad that has been plagued by health issues all year.
Some put that on the coach and his reputation for being physically demanding of his key players, but Boomer says that is complete nonsense, and Thibodeau is the right man for the job.
"For the first time in a long time, this franchise is stable. I can't believe I'm saying it," Boomer said. "You have a coach who preaches defense, and the players seem to really like playing for him. They just had injury after injury.
"I don't want to hear anything about the coach. The coach did a hell of a job keeping this team competitive under extreme circumstances. Nobody should even be thinking about firing the head coach."
For any fans that have an issue with Thibodeau's coaching and philosophy, Boomer says to look back on the graveyard of failed Knicks leaders in recent years before believing that the grass might be greener.
"This is a team that has had David Fizdale as a head coach. Jeff Hornacek. Derek Fisher. I could go on and on and on," Boomer said. "You finally have a legitimate coach, and guys like playing for him…the coach is the least of the problems…for anyone to even think about firing the head coach at this point is an absolute idiot."
