Many Knicks fans turned on Julius Randle after his second postseason disappearing act in three years, but BT took the opposing side of the argument that he should be traded this offseason.
In fact, BT said if New York dumped Randle, it would be parting with one of the best players the city has in any pro sport.
"Julius Randle should stay," BT said. "You could rip down as many poster of Julius Randle that you want. You can tweet, you can scream, you can rant, you can rave.
"Julius Randle is one of the best performers in this city. Don't get me wrong, he drives me nuts. But the low-hanging fruit is to dismiss somebody who has done something for this franchise that has basically, outside of [Patrick] Ewing, nobody else has done, and that is have multiple seasons of sustained success."
Yes, Randle's mental lapses and spurts of no effort on the defensive end make him a frustrating case, but BT doesn't believe the Knicks can do much better, and instead should look to trading for a player who can lift Randle's play.
"This year, he's one of the best 15 players in the NBA as voted on by people who have no fandom…and a couple years ago, he was voted to be one of the top 10 players in the NBA," BT said, "I get it, he's frustrating…it drives me nuts as well. But if you think you're getting better than Julius Randle, I don't think you are."
