Much of the criticism from Knicks fans after their elimination in game six was geared towards Julius Randle, but BT says the team’s All-Star shouldn’t be bearing all of that weight.
For one, what about Mitchell Robinson, who wasn’t near the level he was at in the first round against the Cavaliers, and his lack of offensive ability was glaring in comparison to Bam Adebayo?
“His limited ways really bother me, and really impact negatively, everybody,” BT said. “I get it, Randle drives into the middle too often and tries to bully his way to the hole, or tries to hand off to Robinson. Well, maybe if Mitchell Robinson wasn’t always planted in the paint because he can’t do anything more than three feet from the rim, there would be more room to operate.
“How many teams have a guy in the middle who can’t shoot a five footer?”
Robinson signed an extension this past offseason, and is an elite rim protector who was one of the top offensive rebounders in the league this past season. But offensively, his skillset is minimal at best, and BT needs to see more from a starting center.
“I say that not to bag on Mitch, because he does have value in other areas,” BT said. “But I think too much is dropped on Julius Randle’s doorstep.”
