BT goes off on Tom Thibodeau for Knicks not fouling Tyrese Maxey before game-tying shot
BT began Wednesday's show by ripping Tom Thibodeau for not making it clear to his players to foul Tyrese Maxey with 10 seconds to go and the Knicks up by three in game five.
"The only thing that matters, and the only thing you need to know about last night is that Tom Thibodeau cost the Knicks a playoff game and a chance to get to round two," BT said. "How you don't foul with eight seconds and you're up three is beyond reckless, and he did this in game two, and he didn't get burned by it because they missed a shot."
Instead of fouling, Maxey went up for a deep 34-footer to send the game to overtime, sending New York on its way to a massive collapse to send the series back to Philadelphia for game six on Thursday night. There were foul shots left on the table down the stretch, but BT says the crushing loss is on the head coach.
"Hey Tom, you gotta adjust your philosophy," BT said. "This nonsense of not knowing what to do when you're up three…this is basic stuff! This is coaching 101.
"I heard Jalen say 'I gotta communicate more.' No, your coach needs to communicate more…it is a dereliction of coaching duty."
