C-Mac fine with Knicks not fouling Tyrese Maxey before game-tying 3-pointer

Jalen Brunson told reporters after Tuesday’s crushing game five loss that he should have tried to foul Tyrese Maxey before his game-tying 34-footer with less than 10 seconds to go in regulation, but C-Mac says he had little issue with making Maxey beat the Knicks from that deep.

“That makes me feel a lot better about not fouling. I’m comfortable with that shot,” C-Mac said. “I’m comfortable allowing that shot…that’s a shot I feel like, what are the odds that he hits that freaking thing?”

Even if Maxey misses a free throw there, C-Mac had little faith in the Knicks hitting all of theirs given how many they have missed over the last two games, including down the stretch of Tuesday’s game with critical free throws missed by Brunson and Josh Hart.

“No Knick hit foul shots down the stretch. None,” C-Mac said. “And even if they do, now I’m in the same position with eight seconds left. And if I miss one, God forbid two, then I’m in position to lose the game.

“With the time on the clock and where he shot that 3-pointer, I can’t scream about not fouling.”
