Carmelo Anthony sounded off on former Knick RJ Barrett in the latest episode of the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast with The Kid Mero, saying that the recently traded Barrett is a “bland” player that needed the ball too often as a third option in the Knicks offense.

“He's just a bland player, bro. That's not a shot. That's not disrespect,” Anthony said. “He's good, he gets it done sometimes, but he's not an exciting player. You don't know if he got four or 26 [points].”

Anthony says the Knicks are far better off with OG Anunoby, the headline return in the trade with the Raptors that sent Barrett and Immanuel Quickley to Toronto. The early returns seem to agree, even with a close loss to the Mavericks in Dallas on Thursday night.

“OG could do the same thing RJ doing,” Anthony said. “He just don't demand it the way RJ demanded to be a part of the offense. OG is cool sitting on the wing and moving around and cutting, waiting for somebody to swing it to him and knock down a three. He's still gonna go play defense no matter what. Whereas RJ, he gotta score 20. You know what I'm saying?”
