Immanuel Quickley is a top candidate for the Sixth Man of the Year award, and he has the support of one of the game’s brightest stars.
Damian Lillard, Portland’s star point guard and a longtime wish of Knicks fans, says Quickley should take home the award this season, making his pick on Twitter in response to a poll listing Quickley among other candidates like Malcolm Brogdon of the Celtics, Bobby Portis of the Bucks, and Malik Monk of the Kings.
Quickley has been starting of late with injuries to Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle, but for most of the season, he has been a force off the Knicks bench, averaging a career high 14.6 points per game while shooting 44.8 percent from the field and 36.7 percent from downtown. But he has been even better than that over his last 25 games, averaging 19.3 points per game while shooting 47.9 percent from the field and 40.2 percent from beyond the arc.
Of those 25 games, 16 saw Quickley come off the bench.
Quickley is listed as the odds-on favorite to win the award by numerous betting outlets.
