Donte DiVincenzo set a new Knicks record after lighting up the Pistons from downtown Monday night.

In a blowout win over lowly Detroit at Madison Square Garden, the Knicks sharpshooter poured in a career-high 40 points while connecting on a franchise record 11 3-pointers in the winning effort.

DiVincenzo broke the record, previously held by J.R. Smith and Evan Fournier, late in the fourth quarter, and with New York comfortably on its way to a win, head coach Tom Thibodeau subbed out DiVincenzo so he could enjoy the response from the home crowd.

With nine games to go in the season, DiVincenzo is now just seven triples shy of Fournier’s franchise record for 3-pointers made in a single season.

Asked about setting the new record after the game, a joking DiVincenzo said if teammate Jalen Brunson had passed to him more, he could have reached 15 3-pointers on the night.
