Evan & Tiki: Knicks checked all the boxes of a choke job in game five
Evan and Tiki began Wednesday's show by going over the qualifications of a choke job, and when going through the final minute of the Knicks' disastrous game five loss, all the boxes are checked to signify a choke.
"They choked it away," Evan said. "We all thought that when Joel Embiid had a ball tipped away by Mitchell Robinson leading to the OG Anunoby dunk with 1:30 left, we thought it was over.
"It began with OG Anunoby missing a free throw. When Tyrese Maxey, and the one thing you can't do when you have a six-point lead, you cannot commit a foul…and Mitchell Robinson falls for the pump fake, runs right into Maxey, and it leads to a 4-point play. Does that count as articles of choking?"
Tiki says it does count as a choke.
"When you brain fart to the point where you make a critical mistake with under a minute left," Tiki said. "That is choking."
Evan said the choke continued at the free throw line with Josh Hart, and the Knicks choked in another way by letting Hart be the one to be fouled in the first place.
"For all the good he's done in this series, he compared himself to Shaquille O'Neal at the end of game four," Evan said. "That's a guy who is thinking about things. That's a guy who doesn't want a part of those free throws at the end of the game…Josh Hart didn't want to be at the line in that spot."
