UPDATE: LeBron James' agent said Friday that the future Hall of Famer isn't going to be traded, throwing cold water on the possibility of the Knicks making a seismic trade splash with the Lakers.
The update on Julius Randle’s shoulder injury was vague on Thursday, as the Knicks announced he would be re-evaluated in 2-3 weeks.
If Randle misses extended time, the Knicks could need help at power forward to not spoil their chances of a deep playoff run.
What about one of the best of all time? Should the Knicks try and make a splash for LeBron James?
Evan has put it in the NBA trade machine, and it’s incredibly hard to pull off, but if New York could do it, he says they have to.
“There’s so many layers to this, but the answer is yes,” Evan said. “It is almost impossible to trade for him, because of the salary. Impossible for anybody, but especially the Knicks.
“The Lakers should trade LeBron James. They’re not any good, he’s a free agent at the end of the year. Teams would line up to get him…to make the numbers work, you’d have to trade Julius. If you don’t you’d have to trade like seven contracts, and Mitchell Robinson, Quentin Grimes, Evan Fournier.”
Still, despite how difficult the trade would be, Evan says the Knicks have to give it a shot, as James’ Lakers continue to sputter.
“Mitchell Robinson, Quentin Grimes, Evan Fournier, Malachi Flynn, and three No. 1s. Are you doing that trade?” Evan said. “The answer is yes.”
