Former Knicks guard Ron Baker is calling it a career, venturing into the healthcare field after playing his last season overseas.

Baker, who played three seasons with New York from 2016 to 2019, will now start a new chapter as a project manager for Ascension Via Christi, a medical center in Wichita, Kansas, in their Strategy and Business Development department.

Baker last played overseas for CSKA Moscow during the 2019-20 season, but injuries limited his play at 28 years old. He appeared in 96 career games for the Knicks, averaging 3.3 points and 1.8 assists per game in 14.1 minutes off the bench. He was signed by New York as an undrafted free agent in 2016 and made the opening night roster that season, and began to run into injuries in 2017, starting with a left orbital bone fracture that he suffered when trying to stop an Anthony Davis drive. The following season, he needed shoulder surgery, and was waived by the team before signing on for a short stint with the Wizards.

Baker was a star at Wichita State University, and will be returning to those roots with his next chapter, as Ascension Via Christi said Baker will be working with the company’s sponsorship with Wichita State athletics.
