The Knicks looked like a completely different team with OG Anuoby back in the fold on Tuesday night, throttling the 76ers after managing just 73 points in a loss to those same Sixers two nights before.
With Anunoby back and healthy, and having an immediate impact while other injured starters are also hoped to be on the way, Gio and Jerry believe the hype is back on in New York.
"Why can't they beat the Celtics?" Jerry said. "Everyone always talks about the Knicks making the Eastern Conference Final. Why can't this team, if healthy, make it to the Finals?
"I really do believe, especially when Mitchell Robinson is back, they might be one of the two or three most balanced teams from top to bottom."
Gio believes the Knicks fan may be conditioned to assume the worst after decades of torment, but when analysing this team specifically, they look to be for real.
"You're right. They're every bit as good as any team in the East when healthy," Gio said. "But Knicks fans my age and over, it's 'One step at a time.'"
Regardless, between the Knicks and Rangers, Jerry said it could be a special spring in New York City.
"This feels like '94 to me…it really does," Jerry said. "The Garden is electric for Knicks games. It's always electric for the Rangers. It feels like these teams are on a collision course for the finals."
