Gio: For first time, argument can be made that Knicks are 'cooked'
Gio has lauded the Knicks for their resilience and resolve all season, but after game four's blowout loss, he is starting to worry that cracks are forming with each injury that the roster suffers.
I think there were some major issues with them that I haven't seen in a very long time.
"I don't think they're done or cooked…but I could listen to that case," Gio said. "I could. Someone could try to convince me that we're not gonna see the same Knicks team again after a heartbreaking loss in game three and getting blown out in game four, especially if we're not gonna see OG Anunoby the rest of the series."
Seeing Anunoby again in the series is seeming unlikely after he suffered a hamstring injury in game two, while the team is already down Julius Randle, Mitchell Robinson, and Bojan Bogdanovich. Meanwhile, Jalen Brunson has clearly been hobbled by the foot injury that he suffered in game two. With injuries mounting and two straight losses, Gio is feeling, for the first time, some sense of doubt that the Knicks can bounce back as the series returns to MSG.
"It used to be a given that they would bounce back and be there with full confidence," Gio said. "Now they have to come out and prove it to me after what happened [Sunday]."
