Gio: Jalen Brunson would become all-time Knicks legend if he leads team past Pacers
As the Knicks prepare for a crucial game five at Madison Square Garden, Gio wonders if Jalen Brunson will be able to shake off his foot injury and deliver a superstar performance that would help continue his elevation to immortality in New York.
"We know he's hobbled, but he's already at legend status as a New York Knick at this point. We've already put him in conversation with some of the best that have ever been here," Gio said. "Winning this series, now at 2-2 with him not 100 percent and his team not looking like anything it was supposed to with all the injuries, that's elevating to a different level. An elite level. If he puts this team on his back and with 45 points in a victory, then we're talking about all-time stuff."
Brunson has had his superstar games in the playoffs already, but to carry the team to a series win despite all the injuries that have ravaged the Knicks, including a foot ailment of his own, would catapult the point guard to legend status immediately.
But that won't be easy, as Brunson is clearly playing through pain and discomfort since game two.
"It's not easy, especially when he doesn't look as explosive as he was in the regular season," Gio said. "It's not because he's tired, he's just not healthy…he's hobbled. He's got a bad wheel, and it's clear."
