Gio not letting game five collapse deter his belief: 'The Knicks will still win'
Gio was stunned to watch Tyrese Maxey and the Sixers save their season after the Knicks held a six-point lead in game five with 30 seconds to go on Tuesday night.
But he isn't letting that gut-wrenching loss deter him from his belief that New York will still win the series and move on to the second round for a second straight season.
"Yes, this was as bad as it gets," Gio said. "This was a blown game by the Knicks…this was awful. This was gross. This was hopefully something we forget, but I am not going to do four hours of negativity with the Knicks. I've had it with my teams letting me down all the time…what I have is the Knicks, and I believe in them.
"Yes, they choked away this game, but they're not losing this series. This is not a tail-between-your legs, they're gonna blow the series. They're still up 3-2, they're still the better team, and they're still gonna move on to the second round."
The Knicks will now have to go on the road Thursday night and grab a win to avoid a game seven, but Gio, despite being burned by his sports fandom with nearly every team he supports, isn't letting one terrible loss change how he feels about this Knicks team.
"I don't want to hear how this series has changed," Gio said. "Yeah, they should have won, but the Knicks will win. It's just gonna take a couple more days."
