Paul Pierce took some shots at the Knicks this week, comparing them to an Instagram model that looks good in photos but not as good up close when you get a better look.
Gio says the former Celtics star was simply “hating” when he made those comments on the “Ticket and The Truth” podcast.
“Paul Pierce is just hating here,” Gio said. “If this team is healthy, the way that they play, they play hard, they play defense, they have guys who care. Paul Pierce should appreciate that.
“He played with Brooklyn, he played with the Celtics. He probably hates the Knicks, and hated the attention the Knicks got when they weren’t any good. So he’s just hating on them.”
The Knicks look like a shell of themselves right now without Jalen Brunson, Julius Randle, OG Anunoby, and Mitchell Robinson. Back in January, when all but Robinson were healthy, New York was putting up numbers that rivaled the best teams in the NBA, and Gio says Pierce is conveniently ignoring that reality.
“When this team is healthy,” Gio said. “They play as hard and are as respected as any team in basketball.”
