Immanuel Quickley breaks out new 3-point celebration after losing contact lens

After Immanuel Quickley sank a corner three to give the Knicks a new franchise record of 21 3-pointers in a single game, the sophomore ran down the other end of the floor covering one eye with his hand.

It was his third straight 3-pointer, and the third time in a row that he celebrated with that same gesture.

So, what was behind the new and unusual celebration? It was related to an almost-lost contact lens that briefly interrupted Quickley's sight.

"I lost my contact, so I was acting like I couldn't see," Quickley told reporters after New York's 121-96 win over the Magic.

One of Quickley's contact lenses popped out during the game, which he snagged out of midair and put right back in to return to action, saving it from falling to the floor where it would have needed to be cleaned, if even found at all.

"I put it back in in 10 seconds," Quickley said. "It was like a pit stop."

It was a pit stop that yielded results, as Quickley sank three straight shots after the incident, found himself a new celebration, and finished with four made 3-pointers and helped the Knicks set a franchise record with 24 triples.
