On the morning of the first day that he was eligible to sign his contract extension with the Knicks, Josh Hart did just that, according to ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.
Per Wojnarowski, Hart has signed a four-year, $81 million deal to remain with the Knicks for the long haul. The Villanova product will create a core of former Wildcats signed to New York for years to come, including Josh Hart and newest Knick Donte DiVincenzo.
Hart opted into his player option after last season, giving the Knicks some financial flexibility as a result. He had been open during last season that he wanted to make New York his home, and his new contract has accomplished that.
Acquired in a trade with Portland last season, Hart immediately injected valuable energy into the Knicks' second unit, and was a force in transition while maintaining his identity as one of the top rebounding guards in the NBA. His lack of shooting was apparent in the playoffs, but his role as a sparkplug was imperative to the Knicks surging in the second half of last season, and winning their first playoff series in 10 years.
The new deal keeps Hart in New York through the 2027-28 season.
