Josh Hart put the Celtics away on Monday night when he buried a corner 3-pointer to put the Knicks ahead by 14 with less than four minutes to go in the fourth quarter, and then he helped put Jayson Tatum away.
After Hart knocked down the dagger triple, Tatum began jawing with an official about a no-call on the other end of the floor, when he thought he was fouled on his own 3-point attempt. Whatever he said to the official, it was enough to earn his second technical foul of the night, resulting in an automatic ejection.
While Tatum was being tossed, the officials received an assist from Hart, who gave the technical foul gesture and then mimicked the ejection move as Tatum disappeared into the locker room.
Hart and Quentin Grimes frustrated the Celtics star all night, as Tatum finished with 14 points on just 6-of-18 shooting, including just one 3-pointer in nine attempts.
Boston was missing Jaylen Brown, but it was a statement win for the surging Knicks, who have won six straight, and haven’t lost since acquiring Hart before the trade deadline.
